Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – 25 septembre 2025. The Pan-African Catholic Theology and Pastoral Network (PACTPAN) will tomorrow launch a transformative implementation phase at its General Assembly, unveiling a comprehensive strategy to translate its theological vision into measurable impact across Africa.
“This assembly marks our commitment to turning inspiration into institution,” said Sr. Jane Waruguru, Director of Programmes at PACTPAN. “Where our Abidjan Congress ignited a collective vision, tomorrow we ignite the engines of implementation, creating sustainable structures that will carry our mission forward for generations.”
Strategic Initiatives
The new framework introduces several pioneering initiatives aimed at strengthening the African Catholic Church’s mission in the 21st century:
- Digital Transformation in EvangelizationPACTPAN will establish Africa’s first formation program for Catholic digital influencers, launching a digital faith initiative to train a cohort of evangelists by 2026. The program will equip young leaders to bring Catholic teaching into global online conversations.
- Strengthening Community Foundations: The network is expanding rapidly, with new chapters in seven nations, including Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. “From Zambia to Senegal, we are witnessing a grassroots movement toward unified African Catholic leadership,” Sr. Waruguru noted. Each chapter is designed to serve as a beacon of faith within its community.
- Integrating Faith and ActionPACTPAN will deepen its commitment to social justice programs, including its anti-human trafficking initiative and new projects supporting women’s and youth leadership. Leaders from Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Cameroon, Gabon, and South Sudan will contribute to this vision.“These programs demonstrate our commitment to addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges through Gospel values,” Sr. Waruguru affirmed.
Legacy and Partnerships
The Assembly will also feature:
- The launch of the Abidjan Congress Legacy Book, documenting the congress’s theological contributions.
- New strategic partnerships are designed to amplify PACTPAN’s continental reach and long-term impact.
“Tomorrow marks more than a meeting; it is the beginning of a new chapter in African Catholicism,” Sr. Waruguru concluded. “We are building not just for today, but for the Catholic Africa of 2050 and beyond.”
