At the core of this unit’s work is developing the diagnostic barometer for evaluating the health of any church or church institutions in Africa. The unit works to develop tools to help the church at all levels in Africa to be a family of God and a salt and light in order to be an instrument for realizing the mission of God in Africa through practices of abundant life for God’s people, especially the poor and those at the peripheries. These diagnostic tools will be used for improving the theological, pastoral and social mission of the Church in Africa in areas of leadership, accountability, transparency, inclusiveness, outreach to the poor, social justice, and commitment to politics and social transformation, education and public health, as well as inter-faith and ecumenical relations.
