Father Ruffino Ezama: The Journey of a Comboni Missionary

Father Ruffino Ezama is a highly accomplished missionary of the Comboni Missionaries, who has dedicated his life to serving humanity. He hails from the Northwestern region of Uganda and received his primary and secondary education in the West Nile sub-region of Uganda. He is an academician with several degrees in philosophy, theology, and religious studies.

Father Ezama obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Urbaniana University in Rome, Italy, and his Master’s degree in Philosophical Anthropology and Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Gregorian Pontifical University in Rome. He also holds a Religious Studies diploma from Alokolum National Major Seminary. His academic pursuits culminated in a PhD in Philosophy from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.

Father Ruffino became a member of the Comboni Missionaries on April 28, 1990, and has been a fully professed member since October 10, 1993. He was ordained as a Comboni Missionary priest on July 16, 1994, and has passionately pursued his divine calling.

Father Ezama has a heart for people, especially those in need. He has spent most of his time ministering throughout Africa, where he has worked in the parishes of his home country, Uganda, as well as in the Togo-Ghana-Benin Province. His selfless service, dedication, and passion for helping others have endeared him to many, and he has become a beacon of hope and inspiration to countless people.

In recognition of his outstanding leadership qualities, Father Ruffino was appointed as the North American Province’s Leadership Team Coordinator (Provincial Superior) in January 2020. Since then, he has been serving in that capacity, overseeing the spiritual well-being of members and ensuring the smooth running of the Province’s affairs. However, his term as Provincial Superior of the North American Province will come to an end in December 2025, after which he will continue his missionary work with even more zeal and fervour.
